HRT Patch

Restore estrogen. Find relief from the symptoms that can disrupt how you feel every day.

The transdermal estradiol patch is a prescription form of systemic hormone replacement therapy for women experiencing symptoms of perimenopause or menopause. It delivers estradiol steadily through the skin to help replace declining estrogen and support relief from symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, and related sleep disruption.

Treatment overview

Steady estrogen support, delivered through the skin

During the menopause transition, estrogen levels decline and can contribute to symptoms throughout the body. Systemic estradiol replaces some of that declining estrogen and is used primarily to treat bothersome hot flashes and night sweats. It may also improve sleep when nighttime symptoms are the cause and helps protect against bone loss while treatment is being used.

The estradiol patch delivers medication through the skin, providing steady systemic estrogen without an oral tablet. Transdermal estrogen also avoids first-pass liver metabolism, which is one reason the patch may be preferred for some women after physician review.

Hormone therapy is individualized. Women who still have a uterus generally need progesterone or another progestogen alongside systemic estrogen to protect the uterine lining. Your physician will consider your symptoms, medical history, age, stage of menopause, and individual risk factors when determining whether the patch and any additional hormone therapy are appropriate for you.

Questions about treatment

Questions, Answered

  • The Estradiol Patch is designed to reduce bothersome menopausal symptoms by replacing some of the estrogen that declines during the menopause transition. Hot flashes and night sweats may begin to improve within the first few weeks, while overall symptom control can become clearer over the following weeks. Your response is individual, and your physician may adjust treatment based on symptom relief, side effects, and your ongoing health needs.

  • The patch delivers estradiol through the skin, providing steady systemic hormone delivery without first passing through the liver. This route has different effects on liver proteins and clotting factors than oral estrogen and may be preferred for some women after physician review. Your physician will determine which route is most appropriate for you.

  • If you still have a uterus, progesterone or another progestogen is generally prescribed with systemic estrogen to help protect the uterine lining. Women who have had a hysterectomy may be able to use estrogen without progesterone, depending on their medical history and physician recommendation.

  • Common effects during adjustment can include breast tenderness, bloating or fluid retention, spotting or irregular bleeding, headache, nausea, or skin irritation where the patch is applied. Systemic HRT is not appropriate for everyone, and your physician will review relevant medical conditions and risk factors before prescribing treatment.

  • Not necessarily. Routine hormone-level testing is not required for every woman using standard menopause HRT. Your physician may order bloodwork when the diagnosis is uncertain, symptoms are atypical, treatment response is unexpected, or another condition needs to be evaluated. Labs can also be helpful for establishing a baseline or tracking other relevant health markers. Feelrx offers convenient lab options if you'd like to incorporate testing into your care. • After purchase, you'll complete a medical intake with your health history, current medications, and treatment goals, followed by review and a virtual consultation with a U.S. board-certified physician. If treatment is medically appropriate and approved, your prescription moves to fulfillment and delivery. If the physician does not approve treatment, you'll receive a full refund.

  • The Estradiol Patch is applied to the skin and delivers medication transdermally into the bloodstream. Patches are commonly changed once or twice weekly, depending on the specific product prescribed. If treatment is approved, your physician and Feelrx care team will provide instructions for placement, application, and your prescribed schedule.
